I founded NylaBank, Africa’s first digital bank for Islamic and ethical banking. We have over 33,000 users on our waitlist and have raised an oversubscribed $550K pre-seed round. We have partnered with Mastercard, GCB Bank (Ghana’s largest bank), and Mambu, a core banking software provider. We were selected for the Milken-Motsepe Prize in Fintech, where we received a $100K grant, and were finalists at the Africa Fintech Summit.

I am developing Farabi AI, an open-source ethical credit scoring model powered by AI.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, over 80% of informal workers lack formal credit histories. Traditional credit models rely on bureau data and limited financial records, rejecting over 50% of potentially creditworthy applicants with thin or no files, excluding them from the financial system.

Farabi AI enables fair, transparent lending using machine learning and responsibly sourced alternative data to expand credit access while reducing bias.
